Dear Readers,

It has been a while! Though we’ve been far from idle, it is high time that we reintroduce ourselves. So, here is a heartfelt hello from the dedicated team at Medina Publishing, based on the Isle of Wight.

Our central mission at Medina Publishing is to bridge cultures, embrace diversity and celebrate the rich tapestry of literature spanning various genres. Throughout our journey, we’ve had the privilege of sharing works that transcend boundaries, languages and traditions. Our publications have introduced readers to the enchanting world of central Asian literature, the captivating narratives of the Middle East and the untold tales of extraordinary individuals around the globe.

Our catalogue remains diverse and vibrant offering a wide array of titles.  From spine-tingling short stories, wild sea adventures or thought-provoking non-fiction, we have something to capture your fascination.

Recently we have had the honour of presenting remarkable tales such as ‘The Last Adventurer’ by Fons Oerlemans and his wife Kee Arens – a story of achieving the impossible during multiple, highly dangerous Atlantic crossings, none of them in a boat! We’ve also welcomed best-selling children’s author Peter J Murray into our ranks whose latest book “The Darker Side of Wight”  has sparked the imagination of kids and adults alike!

With Peter J Murray and High Sheriff Dawn-Haig Thomas, ‘The Darker Side of Wight’  has emerged as a significant component of the children’s literacy campaign on the Isle of Wight.  Looking ahead to 2024, we are excited about the potential to expand our support for this initiative, with the goal of inspiring even more children to embrace the joy of reading!

We’re immensely proud of the contributions we’ve made to historical literature this year, including ‘100 Treasures and Curiosities’ published in partnership with Carisbrooke Castle Museum and ‘Rose Castle & Crown’, a compelling military history book by Patrick Crowley about Hampshire and the Isle of Wight’s brave citizen soldiers.

Unlike many other small publishers who focus on a particular genre, Medina Publishing caters to a wide range of interests, be it history, travel, art or simply a captivating narrative. The driving force behind all our endeavours is our CEO, Peter Harrigan, who takes immense pride in being the heart of Medina Publishing.

Our dedication goes beyond book publishing. We take great pride in collaborating with local charities during events and functions to actively support our local community and raise awareness of the issues these charities are trying to combat.

Recently, we had the pleasure of partnering with Cowes Sailability at the book launch of ‘The Last Adventurer’. They are an incredible organisation dedicated to making sailing an inclusive sport for everyone.

An event with author Peter J Murray this month helped to raise money for Admiral Nurses, a charity dedicated to helping those with dementia, the event raised over £200 for the organisation.

Furthermore, we are building an exciting partnership with Independent Arts, an organisation that focuses on addressing mental health challenges and countering isolation through creative practices. Watch this space in 2024!

In a rapidly changing world, the need for connection is more pressing than ever. Through our upcoming publications and partnerships, we aim to further enrich the literary landscape and stand firm in our mission to create a more closely connected world.

We invite you to join us on this journey! Stay updated with our monthly blog posts,  engage with us through our social media channels and, of course, delve into our publications. We eagerly anticipate meaningful discussions with you, celebrating our collective joy of reading.

On behalf of the entire team here at Medina Publishing, thank you for your continued support!
