Students time-travelled 100 years into the future for a debate on the impact of climate change with Kingston and Surbiton MP Ed Davey.

Richard Challoner hosted the Kingston-under-Thames 2114 event during National Climate Week earlier this month, looking at the potential state of the borough in a century’s time.

The event presented seven borough schools with a scenario – what will Kingston be like in 2114 if we do not act on the potential harm being caused by climate change?

Students from Richard Challoner, Holy Cross, Tolworth Girls, Southborough Boys, Coombe Girls, Coombe Boys and Tiffin Girls then put their questions to a panel which included energy secretary Mr Davey, and children’s author Sarah Holding, whose first book focuses on climate change.

Also on the panel was Hilary and David Gander from environmental group Transition Town Kingston and David Randall of Maple Works, a community hub in Surbiton.
